President to
leave for Europe, Cuba, America
ISLAMABAD—President Gen Pervez Musharraf
will leave on his (Monday) for his long
tours to Europe, Cuba and America from
today (Monday).
The President would be outside the country
till 28 September and would address the
Non-Aligned Countries Movement (NAM)
Conference and General Assembly session of
United Nation.
President Gen Pervez Musharraf would
arrive in Brussels on Sept 12 to hold
talks on a wide range of issues with EU
officials and also address a conference on
Kashmir.
Musharraf is scheduled to meet EU Foreign
Policy Chief, Javier Solana, European
Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso
and Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt.
President Musharraf will speak at the
"Global discourse on Kashmir" organised by
the All Party Group for Kashmir in the
European Parliament and the Kashmir Centre
Brussels From Brussels, Musharraf will
proceed to Havana, Capital of Cuba on Sept
16 to attend the summit conference of the
Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) where he is
expected to hold talks with Indian Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh on the sidelines
of the summit.
Both leaders will exchange views to move
forward peace process between Pakistan and
India during the meeting.
President Musharraf would be arriving in
New York on September 17 to attend the UN
General Assembly session.
President Gen Pervez Musharraf is expected
to meet with George W. Bush, United State
President on Sept 22 in White House.
During the meeting, both leaders would
exchanges views relating to War against
terrorism, Defence cooperation,
Pak-America strategic relation, Pak-India
peace process especially Kashmir issue,
Democracy in Pakistan, middle east crises
and Iran nuclear issue.
President Musharraf would also address the
Pakistani community and Students of George
Town University on the same evening and
would arrive back in New York to
participate in book launching ceremony (In
the line of Fire) on Sept 25. Kofi Anan UN
Secretary General would be chief guest in
the book launching ceremony.
He would again leave for Washington on
September 24 and would attend a dinner
hosted by President Bush in the honour of
President Musharraf at the White House
which would also be attended by Afghan
President Hamid Karzai.—Agencies |
