President's visit to Kabul will help
anti-terror coop: Sherpao

PESHAWAR—Federal Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said the
recent visit of President Musharraf to Afghanistan would go along way in
countering terrorism and improving bilateral ties with Kabul.
He said this while addressing a public meeting at Tangi Bar on the
occasion of oath taking ceremony of Tangi Bar cabinet in District
Charsadda on Saturday.Pakistan was playing a leading role for
elimination of terrorism and the President's visit to Kabul would
further bring closer the people of both the neighboring states.
The government's efforts for peace and stability in Waziristan, the
Interior Minister are indicative of government's resolve for creating
the atmosphere conducive for progress and development.Sherpao said, the
Federal Government is actively pursuing to remove the sense of
deprivation and neglect by bridging the gulf of development among the
provinces. The Minister lashed out at the obscurantist elements who were
putting obstacles in the path of general welfare and development for the
sake of exploiting the emotions of backward areas.
While referring to the mega projects and developmental schemes worth 140
billions of rupees in Baluchistan the Minister said that foremost aim of
these projects is to strengthen the underdeveloped areas as the strength
of Federation lies in strengthening provinces.
The Interior Minister reasserted the argument that government did not
want to kill Akbar Bugti and the manipulation of the accident is being
done to harm Pakistan's interests.
About the problems of the area the Interior Minister said that the
recent floods have again highlighted the wisdom of government's efforts
for the construction of Munda dam which will not only avoid the threat
of flood but also result in economic resurgence of the area.
Responding to the demands of Tangi Bar the Interior Minister approved
the expansion of Bar room, books computers and printer for the library
of Tangi Bar. The Minister also announced a grant of rupees three
million for Tangi Bar and hoped that the provision of these facilities
will help the lawyers of Tangi to groom and polish their professional
skills.
