'PB conforms to Islamic injunctions'
By Saad Saud

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Tourism, Nilofar Bakhtiar has said that Hudood Ordinance (Women Protection Bill) is completely in line with the injunctions of Quran and the political parties want to deprive women of their basic rights by opposing it.
She said this while talking to reporters here at a local hotel on Saturday. She said that the political parties should support the Bill deeming it as a public rights bill instead of political one.
Ms. Nilofar said that the government wants to pass the Bill with consensus. In this connection, she said, a committee comprising six members three each from government and opposition side has been constituted to review the Bill. Referring to the possible resignations of the opposition against the Bill she termed it mere threats saying that the opposition was hurling such threats for the last several years.
To a question she said that the government has introduced reforms for promotion of tourism in the country and 2007 has been declared as the year of tourism. “A marketing policy has been chalked out and people belonging to 24 countries will be issued visas,” she added.
Nilofar said that promotion of tourism would not only help provide employment to people but also promote image of the country.
