NAVTEC to launch free training courses in hospitality sector

ISLAMABAD—National Vocational & Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC) is organizing two-month long courses in hospitality sector commencing from September 28.
The courses are being launched in collaboration with the Hotel Marriot Islamabad. The courses are offered free of cost and the selected candidates will be paid a stipend of Rs.1000/- per month after completion of the courses.
The courses have been designed to meet the demand of the hotel industry at national and international level.
The training courses include floor man, floor supervisor, room attendant and waiter services.
The courses are designed to impart skills to both men and women with minimal literacy and comprise theory and on-the-job practice at the Hotel Marriott.
Hotels in Pakistan are increasing and looking for young men and women with pleasing personalities and fluency in English conversation.
When contacted, Chairman NAVTEC Altaf M Saleem said that the courses will help jobless youth to make their careers in the hospitality industry.
"To compete in the 21st century and emerge as a strong Asian economy, Pakistan would need a well-trained manpower. Developing the skills of existing work force will increase productivity, income of poor families and help alleviate the poverty," he added.
Women candidates and candidates from Earthquake-affected areas will be preferred to participate in these courses. Both male and female candidates aged between 18-35 years are eligible to attend the courses. Applicants with higher qualifications, proficiency in English and computer knowledge will be given preference.
Skill-development courses in `hospitality', `construction' and `women in business' have already been launched in various cities of Pakistan.
The candidates, who aim at career-building in hospitality sector, may apply by September 21 addressed to Regional Director NAVTEC, House 5-A, Street 70, F-8/3, Islamabad.
