Efforts on for release of Saifullah Paracha from Gitmo

ISLAMABAD—State Interior Minister Zafar Warriach has said that Pakistani businessman Saifullah Paracha is under detention at Guatanamo Bay and all efforts are being made to ensure his release and he was not arrested from Karachi but from Bangkok.
Zafar Warriach speaking on a call attention notice tabled by MMA MNAs Dr Farid Ahmed Paracha, Mohammad Hussain Mahnti, Begum Ayesha Munawar, Asad ullah Bhutto and Liaqat Baloch told that Saifullah Paracha, a businessman used to work in the US was arrested from Bangkok and not from Karachi on the suspicious of having Al-Qaeda links and is now at Guatanamo Bay prison. He told that Paracha's son Uzair had admitted that his father had linked with Al-Qaeda and admitted to meeting Osama Bin Laden once his son has also been sentenced to 30 year imprisonment in the US on having links with the Al-QaedaHe told that Saifullah Paracha was summoned to Bangkok by his partner and we had no knowledge that the US authorities were after him.
He said we realise what the family members and friends of those detained go through and all efforts are being made to ensure Paracha's release and we have met with US authorities three times in this regard.
Saifullah Paracha was Kidnapped on July 5th 2003 by US Authorities . After being detained in the Bagram Concentration Camp in Afghanistan for 15 months, Saifullah Paracha has been moved to Guantanamo Bay as of October 15th 2004 while son Uzair Paracha, 24, detained in New York March 29th 2003. Plea of Not Guilty had been filed. In November 2005, Uzair Paracha was convicted of all five counts he faced.—Agencies
