3 US troops killed in Iraq fighting
Middle East Desk Report

BAGHDAD (Iraq)—Two U.S. Marines and one sailor were killed in fighting in Iraq's restive Anbar province, the U.S. military command said Tuesday.
The three, all assigned to Regimental Combat Team 5, died on Monday "due to enemy action," the military said in a statement. It did not provide any further details. Their identities were not released pending notification of their families.
The deaths brought to eight the number of American troops killed in Iraq in combat-related violence over the past two days. Anbar province, to the west of Baghdad, is one of the country's most volatile. It includes cities such as Ramadi and Fallujah, part of the so-called Sunni Triangle where the insurgency has been at its worst.
