Pak-Indonesia closely bonded on basis of religion, culture

ISLAMABAD—Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain has said that Pakistan and Indonesia are bonded together in the strong ties of religion, culture and history while both the countries have same views on all regional and global issues.
He said this while talking to a 22-members Indonesian delegation led by Air Vice Marshall Samarman, SE, that called on the speaker in the Parliament House, Tuesday.
The speaker apprised the delegation about the democratic institutions and legislation in Pakistan.
"Democracy in Pakistan was strong, the Parliament was vibrant and the opposition was playing its due role," he maintained, adding that the Parliament, Provincial Assemblies and Local bodies had empowered people at the grass root level in the country.
The speaker said that Islam was the religion of peace and tolerance, but unfortunately has been misinterpreted in the West.
He said that Muslim countries needed to jointly remove this misconception and present the true image of Islam.
He said that the concept of enlightened moderation was the best remedy to eliminate terrorism and extremism from the world.
The speaker said that increased exchange of Parliamentary delegations were essential for further strengthening ties between the two fraternal countries and enhancing economic cooperation. He thanked the delegation for the Indonesian assistance to Pakistan during the October 8, earthquake.
The leader of the delegation Air vice Marshall Samarman , SE said that the Indonesian wanted enhanced cooperation with Pakistan in every field particular in the field if economic and trade. He urged for enhanced interaction between the Parliamentarian for further strengthening relation between the two countries.
