Defence Day to be celebrated today

RAWALPINDI—The 41st Defence Day of Pakistan will be celebrated with traditional spirit, zeal and solemnity throughout the country on September 6 (today).
Special Fauji Melas will be held in all major garrisons of the country.
In this regard, a full dress rehearsal of the Fauji Mela was held at Race Course Ground Rawalpindi on Monday, which was open for the general public.
On the occasion, Corp Commander Rawalpindi Lt General Salahuddin Sati was the Chief Guest.
Special events like Para Jump, Musical Ride, Dog Show, Motor Cycle Show, Tent Pegging and Aerobatics was held for the interest of the general public.
Army Band presented a unique display of band on this occasion.
Special stalls were prepared by various units of the Army where defence equipment was displayed for the interest of the general public.
A large number of students of schools, colleges and universities were present. Colourful balloons were seen drifting in the sky.
On the other hand, smartly contingent of Pakistan Army and PAF demonstrated their defence skills.
Ground and Air Shows of PAF aircraft would be held at PAF Bases Masroor (Karachi), Lahore, Peshawar and Chaklala (Rawalpindi) on the Defence Day of Pakistan. All PAF fighter aircraft, including F-16, Mirage, F-7P and A-5, radar and other allied equipment will be put on display during the show which will be open for public from 09:30 morning till 0530 evening hours.
The aircraft will also perform flying display during the day. There will also be a static and aerial display by ultra light and small aero modelling aircraft. People carrying bags, cameras and mobile phones etc will not be permitted to enter the aircraft display area; as such they are advised not to bring any such item with them. For the convenience of general public, entry to the display area at PAF Chaklala is only from gates located at Rawal road.
Meanwhile stringent security measures were taken for the security and safety of public.
