Select panel Okays women rights bill

ISLAMABAD—The Select Committee of the National Assembly on Monday approved the Protection of Women Bill 2006which will now be sent to the National Assembly for enactment.
The Select Committee of the National Assembly on the Criminal Law Amendment (Protection of Women) Bill 2006 was held under the chairmanship of Sardar Nasrullah Dareshk here at the Parliament House.
The meeting approved the Protection of Women Bill, 2006 with consensus. The bill was read clause by clauseprior to its approval.
Members of the committee gave their suggestions and proposals which were incorporated in the bill. The approved bill will now be sent to the National Assembly for enactment.
The members appreciated the chairman of the committee for his sagacity and acumen for conducting the committee's meetings amicably and developing consensus among the members for the approval of the bill.
The PPP(P) members of the committee supported the bill as a whole and also assured their support for the bill in the National Assembly.
