Torrential rains washes away 50,000 acres of crops

SHAHDADPUR—The month-long torrential rains have washed away standing crops, stretched on about 50,000 acres of lands, while hundreds of houses were collapsed in Shadapur Tuluka.
As per details, the intermittent torrential, which continued to rain in the tuluka for a moth, have washed away standing crops of cotton, onion, sugarcane and chili, while the orchards of banana and other fruits were destroyed by the heavy downpour during the monsoon. In many areas, two to three feet rainwater still standing in many farms of the tuluka.
Due to the heavy rain hundreds of houses in the eight-union council of the tuluka, UC Soomro Faqir Hangoro, UC Asgarabad, UC Jatia, UC Malosi, UC Gul Muhammad Leghari, UC Lando and other, were collapsed. During the month-long downpours at least five people were killed, while more than 100 were injured in rain-related incidents.
Many villages of the tuluka including Sarajuri, Khabar Gaho, Solangiabad, Haji Khaskhali, Mehar Ali Talpar, Jamal Khan Brohi, Abdul Ghafoor Sand, Bachal Bagrani, Shuja Jakhro, Mir Nadam Shah were still inundated.
After the rain, many people suffered from gastroenteritis, diarrhea and malaria diseases, while three children had been killed so far after being suffered from gastroenteritis in the tuluka.
Tehsil Nazim, Faqir Hussain Bukhshi, PML-F leader MPA Sahi Khan Wasan, former MPA and District President of PML-F Faqir Muhammad Bux and other political leaders have demanded the government to declare the Shahdadpur Tuluika as calamity-hit and announce relief package for the affectees.—APP
