'Govt spending huge money for promotion of education'

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Agriculture Sikandar Hayat Bosan here Sunday said the government is spending billions of rupees for the promotion of education in the country.
He lauded performance of the government educational institutions in the intermediate results announced recently.
Addressing a ceremony organised for the distribution of appointment letters among 379 educators in Raza Hall, the minister said that EDO Education and teachers deserve appreciation on excellent results.
He said the incumbent government is focusing on educationand increased its budget manifold as it is a key to progress, development and prosperity in the modern age.
District Nazim Mian Faisal Mukhtar said the federal andprovincial governments are funding huge education projects like Women University and Engineering University at Multan.
He said modern slaughter houses are being set up in eight cities including Multan. This will fulfil the requirements of hygiene and health.
He said Multan topped all boards of Punjab in the recent intermediate results for which the credit goes to our industrious teachers and students.
DCO Iftikhar Babar said it was a difficult task to finalise the selection of educators on merit and resist political pressures. However, he succeeded to deliver.
He said education development budget has been raised from Rs60 million to Rs 120 million while a sum of Rs 50 million has been set aside for furniture of schools.
Earlier, Federal Minister Sikandar Bosan and District Nazim Faisal Mukhtar gave away appointment letters to the educators selected for government boys and girls schools.—Agencies
