CDA approves plan to develop two model villages
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD—The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Saturday approved a
plan to develop two model villages--Kurri and Tarlai--to bring them at
par with other developed areas of the federal capital.
The CDA Board meeting held under the chairmanship of CDA Chairman Kamran
Lashari also approved five other projects aimed at providing maximum
facilities to residents of the capital city.
The new development plan would ensure provision of all the basic
amenities including road network, sewerage system and supply of water
and power to the residents of Kurri and Tarlai, he said.
The official said the Authority would develop these model villages with
its own resources and the residents would have to pay only nominal
development charges.
CDA Chairman Kamran Lashari has also directed the officials concerned to
start construction work on a Ladies Club in sector F-12 by the end of
this month.
He said the construction of four community sports centres in different
sectors would also start next month.
The official said the CDA Board also approved a plan to develop sit-out
areas in the parks in sectors F-6, F-7, G-7 and G-9.
The Authority would offer land to social welfare organizations on
reasonable prices to construct working women hostels.
Old-age care homes and Day-care centres would also be set up in
consultation with private organizations which have relevant experience.
The Authority has also started evaluating the Expression of Interest (EoI)
submitted by private firms for six projects in the federal capital,
which include concrete batching plant, central bus terminal, two hotels
and a general hospital and teaching hospital, the official said.
The batching plant measuring 2.50 acres would be set up in sector H-11
for which the Authority would provide land to the prospective developer
on a lease.
The lease would initially be for a period of 33 years and extendable up
to 99 years. A 25 per cent portion of the total amountwill be paid
within 45 days and the remaining 75 per cent in eighteen months in
quarterly installments.
A central bus terminal measuring 21 acres would be established in I-11
sector as a joint venture between the developer and the CDA, with the
land being the equity of the Authority.
The value of the land will be evaluated through Third Party Evaluation
and the financial proposal will be a key element in selection of the
potential joint venture partner. |
