IESCO to install a grid station at Satellite Town
RAWALPINDI—Islamabad Electric Supply Corporation (IESCO) would install a
Grid Station in Satellite Town, Rawalpindi to support incessant and free
flow of electricity to masses of Rawalpindi.
"Five Grid Stations in Satellite Town Rawalpindi, Defence Housing
Authorirty (DHA) Islamabad, Chakri, Kalar Sayedian and Tarnol will be
istalled. Contracts have already been given and it will take 9 month to
complete these projects. World Bank (WB) also agreed to give financial
support to IESCO's new projects", said Brig Shahbaz Azam, Chief
Executive Officer of IESCO, while addressing the meeting of Rawalpindi
Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) members. The meeting was chaired
by President RCCI Jalil Ahmad Malik.
To provide easy and smooth billing system to consumers, Shahbaz Azam
said that 50 NADRA billing machines would installed out of which 24 had
already been installed adding that one billing machine would be
installed in RCCI.
Responding to query of participants of meeting, CEO IESCO said that
since its incorporation on 25th April, 1998, IESCO had improved its
complaint cell even though any member of RCCI have problems they can
contact directly to him.
He said that a meeting of XEN and linemen would be held in chamber to
rectify the problems of electricity in Rawat Industrial Estate of RCCI.
Responding to a question about getting surcharges, Shahbaz Azam said
that IESCO had lessen line losses but getting surcharges was not in its
aptitude adding that it was government's decision.
Earlier, giving presentation about achievements of IESCO, Shahbaz said
that though load in consumption of electricity had considerably risen
from 1187 MV to 1211 MV, even then we were able to decrease our line
losses to 14.4% in July 2006 compare to 16.4% in June 2005.
He said that 11, 959 employees were working in IESCO adding that 48.42%
of electricity been used by Domestic users while 18.10% and 12.62% used
for Industrial and commercial purpose respectively.
President RCCI Jalil Ahmad Malik in his welcome address said that being
an important item of our daily routine, Electricity was imperative for
Industrial and trade development also.
He said Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Shaukat Aziz had directed
Independent Power Producers (IPPs) to produce more power which showed
the intent of our goverenemnt of getting economic progress.
He said IESCO done remarkably well to overcome the problems of power
supply but still they have to do lot more.—Agencies |
