England can beat Pakistan in one-day series: Bell

CARDIFF: Batsman Ian Bell, fresh from what he called his best one-day innings, said England were capable of beating Pakistan in the one-day series. The first match of the five scheduled was washed out at Sophia Gardens on Wednesday as England looked to be heading for another reverse when the rain came.Pakistan's revised target after an earlier rain delay was 159 from 32 overs and they reached 46-1 from just seven overs."It's nice to stop the losses but it's not the way we wanted to stop the defeats. We'll be excited to get to Lord's as we believe we can beat Pakistan in this series."Bell's 88 runs from 117 balls was the only highlight in England's innings and he now looks set to cement his place with a packed schedule of one-day cricket approaching.Bell said his innings, the batsman's highest in one-day internationals, followed on from the three centuries he plundered in the recent Test series against Pakistan."I tried to carry over my form from the Test matches. I also felt pretty good in the nets and just wanted to carry on. "That was the best I've played in one-day cricket for England. It was just the fact that I looked to be really positive."Number three is where I normally bat for Warwickshire, I'm happiest at three in one-day cricket. It gives me that opportunity to get myself in and gradually score quicker and quicker."
