Pak Rangers, Indian BSF officials discuss border security matters

KARACHI: The officials of Pakistan Rangers and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) discussed in detailed on various issues pertaining to joint patrolling along the border, defence construction, adjustment of security lights, issues of inadvertent border crossers, border demarcation at certain disputed points and measures to control smuggling of drugs and contraband items, during the joint quarterly meeting.

As per derails a high level 12-member delegation of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) led by the Deputy Inspector General of the force, Shri K.R Patel, arrived here at Khokhrapar on August 30 to hold a quarterly meeting on the issue relating to security along Pak-India Border.

The delegation was received by Deputy Director General Pakistan Rangers (Sindh), Brigadier Syed Khushnood Hussain alongwith other senior official PR, a statement issued here on Thursday said.

A smartly turned out contingent of Rangers presented guard of honour, which was followed by a detailed 6-hour long meeting between the two sides.

It is to be mentioned here that it is the routine meeting between the officials of Pakistan Rangers and BSF, which is held after every three months alternately in India and Pakistan.

The meeting was held in very cordial and friendly atmosphere, the statement said.

The Deputy Director General Pakistan Rangers Syed Khushnood Hussain and the Deputy Inspector General of Indian BSF, Shri K.R Patel expressed their optimism that such meetings would paved the way for good neighborly relation between the two countries and contribute toward peace and prosperity in the region at large.

The meeting was also attended by civil and narcotics officials of both the countries.
