Public transport vehicles not completing their specific routes

ISLAMABAD—After the closure of a franchised bus services in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, the private transporters have once again resorted to their old practices of over charging, not completing their routes and misbehaving with the passengers.
The commuters are now-a-days are suffering a lot and facing great hardships as the private wagon owners and drivers have failed to provide proper travelling facilities to the passengers. Majority of the wagon drivers and licensed owners of routes, 1 and 3, have made it their privilege of parking their vehicles at Faizabad by forcefully disembarking the passengers who wanted to travel for longer distances.
The drivers of the private transport pick the passengers from Islamabad and forcefully asked them to disembark the wagon at Faizabad to earn more profit on the route. They off load the passengers at Faizabad and pick other passengers for the last stop to get more fare from them, a frequent passenger and a civil servant Chaudhry Muhammad Sharif complained .
The wagon and mini-bus drivers of these routes are also not completing their routes in violation of their agreement with the regional transport authority and traffic rules, another passenger Azam Khan complained. The passengers further complained that the wagon drivers are over staying their vehicles at various stops and if any one asks them to move on their vehicle they resorted to misbehave and even punish the poor passenger.
Muhammad Ashraf by profession a senior teacher and Raja Aziz Ahmed a newspaper worker argued that owners of these routes also take their vehicles off the road soon after the sunset and only a few vehicles are seen plying on these routes while one can witness rush of the passengers on the bus stops specially at rush hours and the evening time waiting for the private transport. The passengers of these routes have also complained that most of the wagons plying on Rawalpindi-Islamabad routes carry no fare lists and they are doing this just for overcharging the passengers.
The people of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and the passengers have appealed the concerned authorities to direct the private transporters to improve their services for the general public.
They also appealed the government to encourage more private companies for creating a competitive environment and for provision of comfortable travelling facilities in the cities.—APP
