Livestock productivity termed vital for meeting food needs

ISLAMABAD—Under Prime Minister's Livestock development plan a number of schemes are underway for improvement of quality and productivity of livestock sector to meet growing needs of meat, milk and other dairy products.
Member Animal Sciences Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) Dr. Muhammad Afzal said talking to President Pakistan Livestock Research Scientists Association Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Matiullah during a telephonic meeting.
Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Matiullah apprised Dr. Muhammad Afzal of latest livestock homeo research and said that all national agricultural research institutions had certified the efficacy of homeo remedies.
According to experts these medicines could be used for purifying the herds from viral diseases like Foot and Mouth Disease, he added.
He said Unani and herbal medicines were already in use and no excuse was left for justifyingthe non-use of this effective and cheap way of treatment.
In order to achieve the sustainable development of livestock sector, the government should take benefit from the latest homeo research, he added.
Member Animal Sciences PARC assured Dr. Matiullah that government would take every possible step that could help to boost production of livestock sector.
