Chinese tech assistance to help overcome housing issues: DG NHA

ISLAMABAD—China's cooperation and technical assistance will help Pakistan to overcome prevailing housing problems in all four provinces and in the federal capital.
Director General, National Housing Authority (NHA), Syed Irshad Hussain said this while talking to General Manager, China National Oversees Engineering Corporation, Cai Yingxin here on Tuesday, who is currently on a visit to Pakistan.
He said Pakistan can benefit from China's expertise particularly in construction of low cost houses in the country. Syed Irshad Hussain said Chinese have made great progress in housing sector and is role model for developing countries like Pakistan.
DG NHA apprised him that there is acute shortage of houses particularly for low income groups in the country.
He added if proposals are made by China National Oversees Engineering Corporation regarding construction of low cost housing projects in Pakistan, the NHA alongwith Ministry of Housing will give its due consideration and modalities offered for assistance will be thoroughly examined. Cai Yingxin informed the DG regarding various construction projects undertaken by China National Oversees Engineering Corporation in a number of countries in Africa and Middle East.
He said China National Engineering Corporation has 21 zonal offices in various countries.
He said the Corporation is presently working on various construction projects including irrigation, hydel generation, chemical plants, cement factories, hospitals and food processing units in Middle East, Africa and Far East.—APP
