Naomi Campbell basks in Kenyan sun, solitude for Christmas

MALINDI (Kenya)—British supermodel Naomi Campbell, ex-boyfriend Flavio Briattore and a bevy of Italian beauties spent Christmas in this exclusive Indian Ocean resort town, witnesses said. “They look excited,” said one resident of Malindi, a high-end haven for the rich and famous where Campbell and Briattore, the team manager of Renault’s Formula 1 racing team, have been frequent visitors in the past.
“She is so friendly and free with people here,” the witness told newsmen. “Since she comes here very often, we regard her as one of us.” Campbell hosted a holiday party for local children on Saturday at the “Lion in the Sun,” a luxurious getaway owned by Briattore, before heading with him and four Italian models to an exclusive private island for Christmas, witnesses said.
“One of the reasons I love Malindi is that I can walk on the road without people bothering me: They just greet you with a smile and say hello,” the 35-year-old Campbell told Kenya’s Sunday Nation newspaper. “Malindi is the only place where I can walk freely on the road with being afraid of anything,” she said, adding that she was becoming involved in a projects to help African children. “They are all addressed at the improvement of the life of children,” Campbell said. “Children are our future we must take care of them with maximum effort”.—Agenceis
