PPMI to build training institute on modern lines
ISLAMABAD—The government has allotted a piece of land to Pakistan
Planning and Management Institute (PPMI) here at H-8 sector for the
construction of its own training institute equipped with all modern
credentials facilities.
“The Prime Minister has granted a plot to PPMI for the construction of
training institute on international standards”, Muhammad Ethesham
Additional Secretary projects, Planning and Development Division told
APP here Wednesday.
He said the building of the institute wouldbe constructed on scientific
lines. Ehtesham said that last year the Prime Minister entrusted the
institute the task of training 150 senior government officers while it
surpassed the target and provided training to 170 officers. Keeping in
view the good performance of PMMI, the Prime Minister approved a piece
of land for the building of the training institute.
He added at present the training institute is housed in a rented
building. He added PMMI is providing training facilities to senior
officers and project directors of different ministries and divisions of
federal and provincial governments to enhance their capacity and skills
in carrying out different projects including infrastructure schemes.
Mr.Ehtesham said negotiations are in progress with Manchester University
of UK and the university has initially agreed for for joint
collaboration and the university has initially agreed for collaboration
in joint certification for one year. “If the university is satisfied
with our performance we will even get further extension in joint
certification”, he remarked.
About programmes and courses being conducted by Pakistan Planning and
Management Institute, he said the institute has designed two courses for
the current financial year. He added that fist two-week training for
course on “Sustainable project cycle management” for senior project
managers for their capacity building is currently in progress here at
PPMI. The second similar course for senior officers on “Social sector
development “ would be organized in April next.
The participants of the ongoing course in the institute would be taken
into fields for practical experience on different projects. He added
that Planning and development division, government of Pakistan is
initiating a series of capacity building training courses under public
sector capacity building project at Pakistan planning and Management
Institute (PPMI).—APP |
