Searching for Reese’s pesky paparazzo
From Sarah Hall

NEW YORK—The hunt is on for a photographer who crossed the line while attempting to snap pictures of Reese Witherspoon. Orange County Superior Court Judge Douglas Hatchimonji issued an arrest warrant Friday after shutterbug Todd Kevin Wallace failed to show up at a bail hearing.
Wallace, 44, has been free on his own recognizance while awaiting trial on six misdemeanour charges stemming from a September altercation at Disney’s California Adventure Theme Park, during which he allegedly whacked a 5-year-old child with his camera and shoved another child out of his way in the struggle to gain access to the Legally Blonde star and her children.
Police said Wallace initially took photos from afar but became angry when Witherspoon and her friends, who were at the park to celebrate the sixth birthday of the actress’ daughter, declined to be snapped from a closer vantage point. At that point, Wallace allegedly became aggressive and cursed the group, causing several children to burst into tears.
Wallace has pleaded innocent to the charges and has claimed to have video and photos from the incident proving that he did nothing wrong. The Anaheim city attorney’s office requested Friday’s bail hearing after prosecutors learned that Wallace was arrested earlier this month for alleged petty theft from an electronics store.
He posted $20,000 bail and was released Dec. 6 after being charged with a felony count of petty theft with a prior conviction. His arraignment on the theft charge is scheduled for Dec. 27. Wallace, whose only address is listed as a Beverly Hills post office box, was convicted in 1993 of second-degree burglary and receiving goods by fraud and served more than four years in prison, according to state corrections records.
Though Wallace may have managed to put a damper on Witherspoon’s visit to the so-called Happiest Place on Earth, chances are the actress has found reason to smile again.
She recently received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress, Musical or Comedy for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line and was honoured as the year’s Best Actress by the New York Film Critics Circle. She also received a Critics’ Choice nom for Best Actress from the Broadcast Film Critics Association. Stay tuned to see if this is the year that Reese gets a little better acquainted with a little golden guy named Oscar.
