210 computers delivered to ICT for computerization of records

ISLAMABAD—As many as 210 computers have been delivered to Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration by the Electronic Government Directorate (EGD) for computerization of its record.
All functioning of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) offices would be computerized in the next two years at an estimated cost of Rs. 80 million under e-government programme of the Federal government" , said Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Saieed Ramzan while talking to APP on Tuesday.
Saieed Ramzan is monitoring the process for ICT administration while Faiz Malik for EGD.
Ramzan said the Chief Commissioner office, Deputy Commissioner office, Health Department, Auqaf department, Agriculture, Industry, Labour Department, Excise and Taxation Department, Civil Defence office, Cooperative Societies Department, Food Department, Local Government Department, Assistant Commissioners and Magistrates' offices would be computerized under this project.
Chief Commissioner office and its various sections would get 88 computers, offices related to Excise and Taxation Department to get 102 computers, District Attorney offices to get 6 computers, Assistant Commissioner Offices to get 21 computers while ACR offices is to receive 12 computers.
About 80 per cent net-working of the project has been completed," the AC Headquarters said.
He said performance of ICT offices would definitely improve through this `paper-less environment' which would also provide citizens an easy access to the required information. The AC Headquarters said the system would provide an opportunity to citizens to know the latest update about their relevant work besides the facilities of down loading forms and submitting on-line applications to their concerned department. The computerization project would help citizens saving their precious time and money," he added.
He said a 14-day Computer Training course would be conducted for training of staff and to give them know-how about the system.
This data base system would cover the areas of on-line domicile issuance, Citizenship certificates Database Management System, declaration of newspapers, on-line International Driving permits, Inventory and Procurement Management System, Budget Accounts Management System, Information Exchange system, the price list of flour, vegetables and fruits, the record of local government funds, Complaint management system, record of Drug Control and the management of ongoing projects of local government.
The objectives of this project is to improve services delivery to citizens, reduction in the cost of service to citizen by providing government information to the public through a government portal as well as alternate channels.
The project would bring transparency in government-public interactions and would ensure online availability of information on jobs, tenders, official gazette notifications for convenience of the public.—APP
