Tendulkar, Kumble felicitated by BCCI

AHMEDABAD—Indian cricket’s long-serving stalwarts Sachin Tendulkar and Anil Kumble were felicitated for reaching personal landmarks in Test cricket on Sunday.
Cricket Board president and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar presented the champion duo mementoes at the start of the third and final Test against Sri Lanka at the Motera ground.
Tendulkar had set a new world record for most centuries with his 35th hundred of 109 in the first innings of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Delhi.
Kumble became the fifth India to don 100 caps as he stepped on the field just after the felicitation function jointly held by the BCCI and the Gujarat Cricket Association.
Tendulkar also handed over a silver salver to Kumble on the Indian team’s behalf for the latter’s milestone.
The others who had achieved this landmark from India were: Kapil Dev (131 Tests), Sunil Gavaskar (125), Sachin Tendulkar (125 after the Delhi Test) and Dilip Vengsarkar (116).
Less than 5,000 spectators were present on the chilly Sunday morning to cheer the two champion cricketers for their achievements
