‘Pak to co-op with int’l community to combat human smuggling’

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Interior, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Sunday said Pakistan will continue to cooperate with the international community for combating serious crimes including terrorism, in a positive and constructive manner.
He expressed these views on arrival here after attending the two-day meeting on human smuggling held in Athens on December 15-16.
He said Pakistan was in the forefront of the effortsof the international community to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
He said Pakistan was itself a victim of terrorism, adding, Pakistan has put in place national legislations as well aseffective measures for combating terrorism, human smuggling and other serious crimes.
Sherpao expressed satisfaction at the successful conclusion of the conference. He said the Ministers, attending the conference, were invited to combat serious crime, which not only pose a threat to the civil society but also have serious implications for security of the states in the region.
The Interior Minister stressed upon the need for prompt implementation of the decision taken at the conference.
The conference accepted the offer of the Government of Pakistan to host the first meeting of the working group set up bythe ministerial meeting in the first quarter of next year in Islamabad.
On arrival, the Minister was received by the Secretary Interior Syed Kamal Shah and other senior officials of the Ministry of Interior.
