US philanthropist terms relief efforts as impressive

ISLAMABAD—U.S. philanthropist and International Media tycoon Ted Turner Sunday visited the earthquake ravaged areas of ‘Chakoti’ and ‘Muzaffarabad’.
He described the destruction as the worst he had seen adding that the pace of relief work was impressive.
U.N. Foundation Chairman, Ted Turner also visited a field hospital set up on the grounds of AJK Combines Military Hospital (CMH) in Muzaffarabad where he met patients and doctors.
The hospital was almost completely destroyed in the October 8 earthquake. Accompanied by 23 delegation from the U.N. Foundation, Ted Turner also visited a relief camp where hundreds of people are living in tents.
He and his delegation distributed toys to the children where Mr. Turner told the victims that it was an honour and privilege to be amongst them.
As head of the U.N. Foundation Ted Turner said his foundation had already contributed one million dollars to the relief operation through the United Nations and would remain involved in the rehabilitation process.
Talking to journalists he said that he was inspired to see the relief and rehabilitation process.
