Lahore club beat Jaipur by 9-7 in club polo

LAHORE—Hat trick maker Ahmad Ali Tiwana starred in Lahore Polo Club’s 9-7 win over Jaipur polo club in the second and last match of Thomson polo challenge cup here on Saturday at Lahore Polo club.
Punjab Governor, Lt General (retd), Khalid Maqbool was the chief guest on the occasion and witnessed an match with keen interest.Also present were President,LPC,Abdul Haye Mehta and Aamir Raja, Chief Executive, Thomson Mobiles.
With the success LPC took the sweet revenge of their 7-9 defeat in the opening match on Friday.
The Indian side was once again supported by their World Cupper Vishal Singh, who crowned a hat trick andscored altogether six goals to setup another sterling performance in as many days.
With young Tiwana adding five goals, Taimur Mawaz Khan contributed three goals in the role of second highest scorer.
It was Usman Haye who scored a field goal from LPC inthe opening chukker with an under the neck shot to receive applause from a packed crowd.
Indian side which equalised at three stages, 1-1, 6-6 and 7-7 bowed down to the pressure of the home side in the fourth and final chukker.
Singh levelled at 1-1 with a field goal in the opening chukker in which Taimur converted a 30 yards penalty. Jaipur side which was dreaming for their second successive win in as many days, locked the score at 2-2 through Singh’s field goal as Taimir and Tiwana shared one goal each off penalty hits to give their 4-2 at the end of the second chukker.
The third chukker belonged to Tiwana whose brilliant show on horse back was treat to watch as he exhibited astute planning coupled with sizzling shots to claim a hat trick,scoring two successive field goals.
Then shone Singh from Jaipur with a stint of three goals in a row to win the heart of the gathering ,converting three penalty hits of different types, 40,30 and 60 yards with his forceful hitting prowess.
Singh’s three goals narrowed lead at 5-6 and Ajit Singh scored a field goal to tie the score at 6-6 in the end of the chukker which produced maximum six goals of the play and produced thrilling polo.
As soon as the LPC side went into the fourth chukker they gained slight edge when Taimur scored his third goal off a spot penalty with Singh equalising at 7-7 with a lovely field goal before Tiwana missed a 40 yard penalty.
They followed the most sensational act in which Tiwana struck unmatched performance of scoring two field goals to the much frustration of the opponents who were thinking to wind up the match in their favour by hitting the match winning goal.
Later the Punjab Governor gave away the prizes to the members and officials of both the team and match umpires.
