ISLAMABAD—A meeting on allotment of plots to journalists in G-14 under reserved quota was held in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Friday with Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli in chair.
The findings of the Scrutiny Committee for allotment of plots were deliberated upon in presence of PFUJ/RIUJ representatives.
In a marathon session which lasted for five hours, all the cases were discussed one by one. Thirty-three (33) cases held ineligible earlier were cleared, according to a press release issued here Saturday. Out of the allotted cases, the committee recommended ten (10) cases for cancellation. Twenty (20) cases were put in pending for verification and to be presented before the committee in its next meeting, scheduled for December 26.
In one case, it was recommended to downgrade the category whereas in three others, the recommendation was for upgradation. With reference to cases regarding PTV, it was decided to seek the advice of legal adviser in determining eligibility since there are a number of persons who have moved the competent court in this regard and thus matter is sub-judice.
It was also recommended by members of PFUJ/RIUJ to bring in regional press in forthcoming plot allotment schemes. Ashfaq Ahmad Gondal and Ahsan Yousaf Khan from the Scrutiny Committee, whereas Nawaz Raza and Zameer Qadri from PFUJ and Rana Qaiser and Kamal Asfar from RIUJ were present in the meeting.—APP
