Algerian Envoy calls on PM, pledges more relief aid

ISLAMABAD—The Ambassador of Algeria H.E. Nadir Larbaoui call on Prime Minister of Pakistan M. Shaukat Aziz on Friday in Prime Minister House in Islamabad, to reiterate on behalf of Algerian government the sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to the people of Pakistan and specially to those who lost their parents and family in the recent devastating earthquake.
The Ambassador of Algeria presented to the prime minister a cheque of one million US Dollars for President's Earthquake Relief Fund as mark of solidarity decided by the president of Algeria, M. Abdelaziz Bouteflika to the brotherly people of Pakistan and to the government of Pakistan to overcome this tragedy.
It is recalled that Algeria has responded immediately after the earthquake by sending 2 aircrafts on 11 `h October 2005 carrying tents, blankets, foods and medicine.
The Ambassador expressed his wishes that all promises done by the international community in the Donor's conference will fulfilled to help Pakistan in the reconstruction and rehabilitation.
Prime Minister Shaulat Aziz said that Pakistan enjoys close and brotherly relations with Algeria and keen to further promote them in several fields. The prime minister while appreciating the gesture of the Algerian president said, the whole hearted support provided by the international community was a great source of strength for Pakistan.
