9,477 Pak prisoners languishing in 70 foreign jails

ISLAMABAD—There are approximately 9,477 Pakistani prisoners languishing in nearly 70 jails of foreign countries. Foreign Minister Khurshid Ahmed Kasuri told while replying to a query in the House on Thursday.
He told the House there are 2981 Pakistani prisoners languishing in jails of Saudi Arabia, 1808 in United Arab Emirates (UAE) and 1200 in Abu Dhabi. He said that according to the information congregated, out of the total number maximum number of Pakistani prisoners are languishing in jails of Saudi Arabia at an alarming proportion that is 2981.
He further told the House that there are 274 prisoners who are in various prisons of USA, 360 in Britain, 289 in Kuwait and 387 in India. In addition, Foreign Minister Khurshid Ahmed Kasuri presented a formal list to the House regarding the number and country where the Pakistani prisoners are languishing in almost 70 countries of the world.—Agencies
