Pak-Nepal for further broadening defence co-op

RAWALPINDI—Pakistan and Nepal have stressed the need for broader cooperation in different areas particularly in the defence field.
This was discussed during a meeting Wednesday here between the visiting chief of Army staff of Royal Nepalese Army, General Pyar Jung Thapa and senior Federal Minister and Minister for Defence Rao Sikandar Iqbal, Minister of state for Defence Zahid Hamid. The Ministers informed the Nepalese Army Chief that Pakistan attached greater importance to its relationship with Nepal as both had commonality of views on regional and international issue.
Both sides emphasized the need for the promotion of economic and trade ties, which would tremendously benefit the two countries. Cooperation areas of training for the military personnel of two countries also came under discussion.
General Pyar Jung Thapa briefed the minister about the visit to Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO) and praised the quality and standard of defence equipment produced by the Defence Industry of Pakistan.
He also expressed his heartfelt grief over the loss of precious lives due to devastating earthquake.
