Two-week training course for senior project managers begins

ISLAMABAD—A two-week training course on “Sustainable project cycle management” for senior project managers for their capacity building started here at Pakistan Planning and Management Institute (PPMI) here.
Planning and development division, government of Pakistan is initiating a series of capacity building training courses under public sector capacity building project at Pakistan planning and Management Institute (PPMI).
The two-week training course has been organized by PPMI of Planning and Development Division in collaboration with University of Manchester, UK.
Dr.Pervez Tahir Chief Economist Planning and Development Division inaugurated the training course here today.
Twenty senior officers (BPS-20) drawn from major federal ministries relating to infrastructure, provincial P & D department and planning and development division are participating the training course.
Director General, PPMI, Dr.Nisar Ahmed , Muhammad Ethesham Additional Secretary projects, Planning and Development Division and Richard Bond the master trainers and representative of University of Manchester United Kingdom also spoke on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Pervez Tahir said that Pakistan has achieved a highest GDP growth rate during the last financial year and the government wanted to sustain it.
To achieve this objective, government has initiated a number of public sector infrastructure projects and projects for the socio- economic development of the country.
He expressed the hope that this course would be a beneficial for the participants and called upon them to learn more and enhance their capacity in the project management in order to apply their knowledge and expertise in this regard in a better way.
He was of the view that infrastructure sector was neglected in the past but now this significant sector is being given the prime importance for the sustainable economic growth and development of the country.
He appreciated the efforts of PPMI in imparting training to senior project managers.
Dr.Nasar Ahmed and Muhammad Ethesham on the occasion highlighted different aspects of the training course.
Richard Bond in his remarks urged the participants to use their knowledge and experience, learnt form the course, and come up with ideas for better project management in their respective departments.
