National action plan against human trafficking launched

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan has announced the launching of National Action Plan to combat human trafficking. The announcement of the plan was made in a ceremony held here in local hotel on Monday. Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao and ambassadors of United States, UK, Canada, European Union, Iran and other countries attended the ceremony.
The participants were told that national plan of action against human trafficking aimed at utilizing all resources for curbing human smuggling. Talking to media men while inaugurating said plan, Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao said that government was fully committed to combat human smuggling.
He noted that a Passport Circle has been set up on Chaman on Pak-Iran border to avert the bids for human trafficking. The Minister said that earthquake victims were being provided complete security adding, no incident of human smuggling was occurred in tent-villages here.
Sherpao also offered thanks to world community for its assurance of cooperating with Pakistan to combat human smuggling. Speaking on the occasion, US ambassador Ryan C Crocker said that US would continue its cooperation with Pakistan for curbing human trafficking. He also lauded government of Pakistan for taking every possible measure to stop human smuggling. "Pakistan is US's frontline ally in war against terrorism and we are also cooperating with each other for combating human trafficking", Crocker added. Ambassadors of European Union, Canada, UK, Iran, Saudi Arabia and of other countries lauded Pakistan's action plan to control human smuggling and assured their full cooperation with Pakistan in this respect.
