Sikandar optimistic about OIC’s support for Kashmir solution

ISLAMABAD—The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) in its recently concluded extraordinary Mecca summit held out unflinching assurances to fully back the right to self-determination and freedom to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, these views were expressed by AJK Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan in his brief chat with media-people here Sunday after attending the OIC summit.
“The OIC in its unanimously approved resolution underlined that Kashmiris will be backed morally, politically and diplomatically and it is the birth right of the people of the valley to decide by themselves about their future,” he remarked. Replying volley of questions, he stressed that efforts should be stepped up to hold Kashmir Council elections without further delay. Responding another query in connection of alleged rape of Kashmiri girl in Lahore, he underlined, “the people of Pakistan consider Kashmiri sisters and mothers as their own and vice-versa and he cannot issue any statement in this connection till arrival of final report.” To yet another question, he expressed satisfaction that rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in quake-ravaged zone were in full swing and it was the top priority of the government to ensure provision of shelter to the affectees.
