India to buy unguided Russian rockets
From Meerza Iqbal Baig

NEW DELHI—Indian Air Force will buy several thousand unguided rockets from Russia in a dollar 24 million deal, said media reports received here.
“The Plastic Factory” enterprise based in the town of Kopeisk in the Urals (Chelyabinsk region) has launched production of some 25,400 S-8 and S-5 ‘air to surface’ unguided rockets for the IAF under an inter-governmental order, added the reports quoting “Prime-TASS” news agency.
“The US Dollar 24 million Indian Air Force order would becompleted in four years and has enabled the management to pay back wages to the worker and receive funds for the development of production,” the reports added quoting a spokesman for the management as saying.
This is one of the largest orders procured by the factory in last eight years, which was on the verge of bankruptcy.
It has the capacity of producing up to 1000 rockets daily, but due to lack of orders from the Russian air force it was so far surviving on small export orders, the reports maintained.
