‘National Education Census to cover all educational institutions’

ISLAMABAD—The Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) has launched National Educational Census 2005, in which for the first time it has been decided to cover all educational institutions from class Prep to Ph.D Professional, Vocational, Technical and Deeni Madrassas working in public and private sector and collect data for the promotion of quality education.
Federal Bureau of Statistics sources, told APP that objectives of the census was to develop National Education Data Base; systemize regular availability of adequate and up dated data at Federal/Provincial /District level. The other objectives, they said was to bring all types and tiers of Private and Public educational institutions and Deeni Madrasa into comprehensive network for regular monitoring and the availability of quality education.
They added that National Education Census 2005 has been started from November, 21, by the Bureau and for the first time it has been decided to cover all educational institutions from class Prep to Ph.D Professional, Vocational, Technical and Deeni Madrassas working in public and private sector. The data will be collected from the entire country including FATA, Northern Areas and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, they added.
They further said that a range of information including their number, type of education, enrolment of students, qualification of teaching staff, expenditure incurred and income generated will be recorded. To accomplish this task, they said all Mauzas/Villages, Dehs in rural areas and Enumeration Blocks formed by FBS in urban areas will be visited to cover these educational institutions, they added.
The FBS sources added that 1100 enumerators have been recruited while 150 regular Statistical Assistants, 50 Statistical Officers (SO), 18 Chief Statistical Officers (CSO), 2 Directors and Deputy Director General are taking part in this census. They added that the Training of Master Trainers, supervisors and enumerators have been completed and the field operation of National Education Cencus (NEC) has been started all over the Pakistan w.e.f November 21.—APP
