OGDCL planning to drill 17 petroleum wells by end June

ISLAMABAD—Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) plans to
explore 17 wells by the end of current fiscal year 2005-06, it has
learnt.
Sources told online here on Sunday that the state run company was
following a prudent policy to maintain a role of a leading and entrusted
company to ensure supply of gas into the system besides adding
substantially to country's oil production and saving foreign exchange.
They said that the company had drilled 18 new exploratory, appraisal and
development wells during the last year including eight exploratory wells
in Sinjhoro, Rajian, Rachna, Nashpa and Tando Allah Yar concessions and
three appraisal wells in Sinjhoro concession. Out of seven development
wells drilled during past fiscal year five are located at Qadirpur and
one each at Dakhni and Chanda," they said.
In pursuance of its aggressive exploration strategy, they said that the
company during the last year has enhanced its exploration portfolio by
acquiring seven new exploration licences namely, Indus Delta-A, Shahana,
Bagh, Multan North, Multan South, Kalchas and Kohlu covering an area of
15,4887.7 sq.kms.
They said that two more exploration concessions namely Dhok Sultan and
Samandar covering an area of 31,198.5 sq.kms were also acquired by the
company in July 2005.
They said that the company has maintain its status as leading national
oil and gas producing company in the country and produced 47 percent of
total crude oil and 23 percent of total gas.
They said that the company holds 115 million barrels of crude oil and
10.5 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of gas as remaining recoverable reserves
in its own and operated joint ventures fields. |
