NA Speaker rules out existence of forward bloc

SHEIKHUPURA—Speaker National Assembly, Ch. Amir Hussain Saturday said that there was no forward bloc in the house and he had not received any written application in this regard. Talking to newsmen after attending the Valima ceremony of MNA Khurram Munawar Manj here, the NA Speaker said that this is the time to form blocs in earthquake-hit areas so that shelter could be provided to them. The speaker said that national and provincial assemblies would complete their constitutional term and elections would be held on scheduled 2007, he added.
The NA Speaker lauded the role of Opposition for supporting the government in its relief efforts to quake- victims adding that Opposition should help the government for the complete rehabilitation of quake-victims. Answering to a question, he said that solution of Kashmir according to the aspirations of Kashmiri people is vital for durable peace in the region.
o another question, Ch. Amir said that 18 bills were passed in the house during the parliamentary year and several adjournment motions were also disposed of during the same period. The NA Speaker paid rich tribute to Pak army for carrying out relief work in calamity hit areas of NWFP and Azad Kashmir. —APP
