Premier mulls Opposition’s terms on relief body

ISLAMABAD—Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Thursday started consultation on the terms of references submitted by the opposition in line with rules and regulations of the parliamentary committee established for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the quake-ravaged areas of AJK and NWFP.
Well-placed sources told Online that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz informed cabinet members during meeting that opposition terms of references regarding rules and regulations of the parliamentary committees had been received.
He told the cabinet that the opposition had urged in their references for conducting all relief and rehabilitation operations under civil organizations and parliament surveillance, appointment of a civilian to supervise the relief and rehabilitation authority and maintain transparency of audit of the fund received for rehabilitation and reconstruction of the quake affected areas.
Prime minister has started consultation with ruling league president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, former president Farooq Ahmad Khan Laghari, chairman Kashmir Committee Hamid Naser Chatta, MQM parliamentary leader Farooq Sattar, Muslim League MNA Razzaq Thahim and other coalition partners.—Online
