Stone’s hurricane Katrina single hits US store shelves
LOS
ANGELES—A star-studded charity single co-written by “Basic Instinct”
star Sharon Stone aimed at helping victims of deadly Hurricane Katrina
hit US stores, producers said. The song, “Come Together Now,” was
written by actress Stone along with Grammy-nominated songwriter and
philanthropist Denise Rich and songwriters Mark Feist and Damon Sharpe,
and was released by independent label “785 Records”.
Top artists donating their talents to the single included Aaron Carter,
Nick Carter, Natalie Cole, Celine Dion, Wyclef Jean, Patti LaBelle,
Brian McKnight, and Joss Stone. All proceeds from sales of the single
and the accompanying video will go to victims of the storm that ravaged
the southern US coast in late August. The money will be split between
two charities, Habitat for Humanity and Angels’ Place.
“We are so grateful to the artists that lent their support to this
project and to the retailers that are putting us out there over the
holidays,” Stone and her co-songwriters said in a statement. “To all the
hurricane victims, know that people care and we hope that this gesture
brings you comfort and relief.” The song was snapped up by a record
2,500 users of Apple iTunes in one week when the online record library
began offering the charity single for download earlier this
month.—Agencies
