Lahore, Amritsar trial bus on Dec 11

ISLAMABAD—Trial bus between Lahore and Amritsar will be plied on December 11 and 13, while talks for Nankana-Amritsar bus service will be held on Dec. 20-21 in Islamabad. Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam talking with Geo here said a trial bus will travel from Amritsar to Lahore on December 11, while on Dec. 13 a bus will travel from Lahore to Amritsar. The officials from two sides will journey through the two trial buses. Nankana-Amritsar bus talks were scheduled to be held in October but were put off due to the earthquake. Pakistan had proposed new dates for the talks, which were consented by India. The Indian team will hold talks with Pakistani officials on Dec. 20-21 in Islamabad to decide about Nankana-Amritsar bus.
INP adds: The trial run of the Lahore-Amritsar bus service will commence from December 11, according to Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. ‘’The trial run would pave the way for a bus service between Amritsar and Nankana Sahib in Pakistan, the birth place of Guru Nanak’’. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistan counterpart Shaukat Aziz are working towards fostering a better bilateral relationship and the past should be buried to bring the bring the two countries closer, Singh told newspersons.
