Kashmir issue’s resolution must for peace in region, says Chattha

ISLAMABAD—Chairman of the Paraliment’s Special Committee on Kashmir Hamid Nasir Chattha said Tuesday that resolution of Kashmir dispute was imperative for peace and prosperity in the region and the international community should persuade India to resolve this core issue. Talking to a 6-members Belgian parliamentary delegation which called on him at the Parliament House here, Chattha said that peaceful resolution of Kashmir problem was in the interest of India, Pakistan, Kashmiris and the world community. He said continuation of the dispute has diverted the bulk of resources of both India and Pakistan to defence, which otherwise could have been used for socio-economic progress of the people of the two countries.
Chattha said that the resolution of Kashmir dispute usher in peace and prosperity in the entire region.He informed the delegation that the principal issue between India and Pakistan must be resolved according to the wishes of the people of Kashmir.
For the success of the composite dialogue between India and Pakistan, inclusion of Kashmiris in the process was necessary, he said, adding that Kashmir was not a territorial problem but an issue of human rights of the people of Kashmir.
