Quake survivors of remote villages shifted to UAE Field Hospital

ISLAMABAD—A number of quake injured have been evacuated from their mountainous village in Kaghan Valley and admitted at the UAE military field hospital in Bisan at the outskirt of Balakot after 49 days since the October 8th earthquake.
The Head of the medical team at the field hospital Dr.Ali Ubaid bin Ali said patients have informed that their village was inaccessible due to road blockage.
Dr Ali Ubaid, in a brief note, said that around 26500 injured and sick people, were admitted in the hospital and received treatment in the out - door clinics since 12 October and 319 were operated.
He said the fully-equipped hospital receives around 550 patients daily, mostly coming from Balakot and neighboring villages. Dr. Ali Ubaid mentioned that 60 percent of the patients need continuous medical care for a long period while 10 percent of the patients suffered from bone fractures. A total of 49 patients with fractures in the spinal cord were airlifted to UAE for treatment.
He added that some members of his team are moving on foot to scattered villages in search of wounded people, who may need first aid and to make arrangements for their hospitalization. He said basic needs are also being provided to other survivors.
He said that another team is engaged in a vaccination campaign in Balakot city adding that a preventive medical unit was brought from UAE to spray localities in Balakot to check the possible risk of infectious diseases.
The field hospital is run by a team of 65 doctors and paramedic It is fully equipped with 4 wards, operation theatre, I.C.U, X-ray, accident and emergency unit and two out-door clinics.
