HUBCO sponsors eye clinic to serve schoolgoing kids

ISLAMABAD—The Deputy District Education Officer, Hub, Allah Baksh Rind yesterday inaugurated the School Eye Screening Program 2005, sponsored by, the Hub Power Company Ltd (HUBCO). Conducted in association with the AI-Ibrahim Eye Hospital Malir, the clinic will run for four days. It will cover all the students of the 13 or so schools in Kund, Pirkass and Mawali areas. TCF School, Hubco-IPGDI. Campus with a strength of 300 plus students will also be covered.
“The health sector is one of the principal areas of focus of HUBCO’s Social Action Programme and we are particularly concerned with the health of the children in our areas of operation, as these children are our future,” said Ashraf Tumbi, Chief Executive of Hubco. “Eyesight is a great blessing and these .regular eye clinics ensure that any eye problems are addressed before these become serious,” he added.
In the execution of the programme, HUBCO will be fully assisted by International Power, the company that is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Hub Power Plant. The School Eye Screening Programme has become a regular feature of HUBCO’s larger Social Action Programme that encompasses other initiatives in the health sector and in the education sector, benefiting the local people of the Hub and Gadani areas.
