A star in the making, Rimmi Sen
Noreen Aslam

BOMBAY — Rimmi Sen is the hot Bollywood beauty at this hour raring to go! She had been juggling with the itsy bitsy role in Bollywood before Priyadarshan noticed her and got her in ‘Hungama’. This was the film that made the fate of rimmi and from then there was no looking back for this bong damsel. She found herself opposite Abhishek in ‘Dhoom’ and has hit the screen with two consecutive biggies recently ‘Garam Masala’ and ‘Kyon Ki’, rimmi will make to the theatres with ‘Deewane Hue Pagal’.
Excerpts from the Interview:
You’re making it. ‘Garam Masala’, ‘Kyon Ki’ and ‘Deewane Hue Pagal’ coming in a row. How do you feel?
I’m happy that my talent is getting noticed. I haven’t ever tried to seek the media attention to project myself. Rather I’ve always wanted my works to speak. After days of struggles at last things are looking good for me. I’m thankful to the media and the audience for everything. I feel very confident today, for bagging some of the good works and with lots of good project in hand.
Have you started considering yourself in the league of the big actresses of the time?
No ways. I’ve a long way to go and they are far ahead of me.
Are you happy with the way your career has shaped up in Bollywood?
Truthfully I couldn’t have asked for more. I didn’t have a background in films, nor a mentor to back me up. On my own, I started out on the route and thankfully didn’t end up doing cheap films. I would be forever grateful to Priyadarsan for giving me ‘Hungama’. The small tint in ‘Baghban’ also helped me to get noticed. For my petite role in ‘Dhoom’, I owe it to Sanjay Gadhvi. I now again got the chance to work with Priyan sir in ‘Kyon Ki’. Currently I’m doing ‘Deewane Huye Paagal’ and ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ with Firoz sir. I’m really glad with everything.
And Rimmi Sen is there in right, left and center with three releases in the month of November itself!
It’s a coincidence that all my three films ‘Kyon Ki’, ‘Garam Masala’ and ‘Deewane Huye Paagal’ are getting released in a single month. I’m grinning from ear to ear to be all over the place.
How do you feel to be working in the three biggest releases of the year?
It only adds to my pleasure. I work in three big films and also with the big stars of the industry. Salman, Kareena and myself enjoyed ourselves during ‘Kyon Ki’. In ‘Garam Masala’ I was the surprise package and did the role for Priyan sir.
What about your next ‘Deewane Huye Paagal’?
I’m too excited about the film, with only a week remaining for its release. The film is action romantic comedy genre, shot in a stunning way by Vikram Bhatt in Dubai. I’m working with the four sought after men of the industry - Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Shahid Kapoor and Suniel Shetty. I’m really flattered that all four of them are after me in the film. It’s my solo project. The film is an absolute entertainer, a madcap that audiences are sure to enjoy! Just go out and have fun, this is what I want to tell everybody.
Tell us something about your character in the film?
I’m the only heroine in the film. My role is of a simple girl Natasha. I live in Dubai and am very confident. The heroes end up in Dubai and are on a hunt for me. What leads to what, you’ve to find it yourself at the theatres!
You get the chance to work with Akshay Kumar again.
It’s for the third I’m working with him. He is very comfortable to work with and we’ve lots of fun on the sets. He is my favorite co-star like Salman and Abhishek.
What are your forthcoming releases?
‘Deewane Huye Paagal’ is hitting the screen next week. There is another film with Akshay, Paresh, Suniel and Bipasha under the same banner ‘Phir Hera Pheri’. There is Rohit Shetty’s ‘Golmaal’ a film with Ajay Devgan, Tusshar Kapoor and Arshad Warsi.
