49 developmental projects worth Rs1687.824m underway in ICT

ISLAMABAD—Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has launched 49
different rural and urban development projects at a total cost of Rs.
1687.824 million.
The pace of work on these plans was reviewed here Wednesday in a
meetingo f Islamabad Development Working Party presided by Chief
Commissioner, IslamabadKhalid Pervez. The Chief Commissioner directed
the head of every department to set monthly target and ensure the early
as well as quality completion of these projects.
He directed to complete the work at Judicial block till January 30, 2006
and to ensure early completion of undergoing project of Judicial and
Administration Complex at G-11/3. The meeting was told that 19 projects
under the supervision of Department of Local Government and Rural
Development are underway at the cost of Rs. 546.357 millions.
These projects include restoration and up-gradation of 12 water supply
schemes at rural areas, installation of tube well at Shahpur and
construction of 28 kilometers road, the construction of streets at Golra,
Shah Allah Dita, Jorri and in the areas of Zone II, pavement of streets
of 13 villages of Tarlai, the restoration and up-gradation of roads at
Kuri, Chahrah and Tameer.
These projects also include constructions of nine kilometer road in
Tarlai, pavement of streets in five villages of Bhara Kahu, the
construction of internal roads and 11-kilometer road at Bhara Kahu,
restoration of roads 15-kilometer road at Phulgran and Shah Allah Dita,
the restoration of Simly dam road and construction of drains and nullah
at rural areas.
The meeting was told that Computer Literacy Centers are being
established in nine Union Councils at the cost of Rs. 7.6 million for
the development of women. Different programs are being initiated to
impart the women various skills and to enhance their income resources
which include livestock-keeping, flower-making, painting and glass
manufacturing.
A health unit is being established at Tarnol while Rs 210.302 millions
are being spent for ten agricultural development projects in the rural
areas.
These projects also include soil and water conservation plans in sub-
catchment areas, the plan of setting up nurseries and forests in rural
areas, plans for promotion of Poultry industry, to strengthen mobile
veterinary services, setting up insemination centers to increase milk
and meat production in rural areas, up-gradation of veterinary health
care services, to impart training among farmers for use of modern
technology, setting up demonstration plants and programme for
improvement of courses in rural areas.
The Chief Commissioner directed to concentrate on development projects
for promotion of agriculture and livestock in rural areas and to
expedite the plans for the development of water courses. He also
directed for monitoring and sampling of poultry to ensure that chickens
should not contract fatal disease. The meeting also reviewed plans for
setting up B-type police stations at G-11, I-11, D-12, G-10 and Shehzad
town, the construction of police barracks at Diplomatic enclave, F-7,
F-8, I-9 and G-10, setting up of C-type police station at F-6 Markaz and
construction of barrack, construction of MT shade at H-11 Police Line
and several other plans. |
