President lauds services of Cuban medics

ISLAMABAD—President Gen Pervez Musharraf Tuesday conveyed the appreciation and gratitude of the people and government of Pakistan for the medical team dispatched by the Cuban Government in aid of relief operations in the earthquake affected areas.
He observed this while talking to Felipe Perez Roque, the Foreign Minister of Cuba who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
During the meeting the President thanked the Cuban Foreign Minister for the expressions of solidarity and support for Pakistan by President Fidel Castro and the Government and people of Cuba.
The Foreign Minister of Cuba underlined the importance that Cuba attaches to its relationship with Pakistan. He said that the Cuba would enhance the medical relief assistance to Pakistan in the coming weeks.
The Cuban government has deployed a large medical team comprising doctors, para-medics and support staff. The team is rendering medical assistance to the victims of the earthquake. Additionally, several field hospitals have been set up in the affected areas.
