CDA directed to take action against illegal occupants of govt hostels

ISLAMABAD—National Assembly Standing Committee on House and Library Monday directed Capital Development Authority (CDA) to issue notices to the illegal occupants of Government Hostel's room.
The NA Body in its meeting which held here under the chairmanship of Sardar Mohammad Yaqub, Acting Speaker National Assembly, also directed CDA to restrict the allotment of rooms to the Parliamentarians for their guests for not more than 15 days.
During meeting various matters pertaining to the security, maintenance and repair of the Parliament Lodges came under discussion. The committee expressed its concern on the cleanliness and janitorial services being provided at Parliament Lodges. Sardar Mohammad Yaqub constituted a five-member sub-committee to supervise the pre-qualification process of the firms who have submitted their bids in response to the tenders invited by CDA for the janitorial services.
He also directed CDA to intensify the pace of repairs and maintenance and upholstery of the furniture in the family suites.
He directed CDA to immediately repair the cracks in the structures of the Parliament Lodges from M/s NESPAK, which appeared due to recent earthquake.
The committee, while discussing the security arrangements at Parliament Lodges, directed the Ministry of Interior and Senior Superintendent of Police (Islamabad) to afresh take up the issue of creation of posts of police constables exclusively for the security of Parliament House and Lodges. SSP informed the committee that the earlier case moved for allocations of funds and sanction of additional strength was regretted by the Ministry of Finance on the resource constraint grounds.
It was also decided that all the Parliamentarians may be requested to provide names of the persons residing with them so that unauthorized entry into the premises of the Lodges may be restricted. The meeting was attended by Minister for Housing and Works, Syed Safwanullah, MNAs Makhdum Syed Ali Hassan Gillani, Mrs. Belum Husnain, Ms. Shagufta Jumani, Krishan Bheel Advocate, Mohammad Ibrahim Jatoi, Ch. Mohammad Rafiq, Secretary National Assembly and senior officials of Ministry of Interior and CDA.
