Judge lets
Courtney Love leave drug rehab centre
LOS
ANGELES—Rocker Courtney Love, who was confined to a lock-down substance
abuse centre earlier this year after violating her probation, can leave
the facility for an outpatient program, a Los Angeles judge ruled on
Friday. “You’re doing really well. I’m really pleased with the reports,”
Superior Court Judge Rand Rubin told the 41-year-old singer during a
hearing. “I certainly hope you keep up the good progress. You’re
definitely going in the right direction.”
Rubin had ordered Love, the widow of rock star Kurt Cobain, into the
treatment centre for 180 days after she admitted in August she had used
drugs, a violation of her probation. She is serving probation after
pleading no contest to a misdemeanour assault charge stemming from an
attack on musician Kristin King at the home of Love’s ex-boyfriend. King
sued Love in September over that incident.
