Sugar prices go up by Rs2 per kg

KARACHI—The persisting sugar crisis has not come to end even after Ramadan amid the reports that sugar price has increased by Rs 2 per kilogram in the local market.
The upward surge in sugar prices continues and with every passing day, the product is registering increase in its price.
The sugar is being sold out at varied rates in different markets of the city. In some localities, its sale continued at the rate of Rs 28 per kilogram and in other areas it was available at the rate of Rs 29 per kilogram.
The unstable prices have led to exchange of hot words among the consumers and shop keepers.
Farid Qureshi, representative of Karachi retailers was of opinion that only marginal increase has been recorded in the price of sugar in wholesale market. The price of one sack of sugar comprising 100 kilogram is Rs 2630.
The sugar imported from China, Brazil and other countries is being sold out in wholesale market. The locally manufactured sugar has depleted.
