Donors urged for more aid
ISLAMABAD—The affected people in earthquake areas are in dire need of
assistance and donors should extend more assistance enabling them to
reconstruct and rehabilitate themselves.
Abdul Qadir, Programme Officer of Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), an
international NGO, stated this while talking to APP here on Wednesday.
He said the quake caused colossal loss of life and property to the
affected people and they deserve more attention and aid for their
rehabilitation.
"Though the relief work is in progress but it should be carried out with
more coordinated manner for the benefit of the people", he added. He
said "This is the time for donors across the world to extend more
cooperation and help to mitigate sufferings of the earthquake hit
people.
He said a media campaign should be launched with more vigor to attract
attention of the world community because the existing relief support is
not sufficient.
The miseries of the affected people should beproperly projected to draw
the attention of the foreign donors for more assistance, he added.
He said FES is planning to provide vocational training to the jobless
people of the affected areas. He appreciated the holding of the Donors
Conference by Pakistan and hoped it would help to get more assistance to
